Selecting The Right Partner

Are you aware of what is important to you? Do you want to get married, have kids, be in a monogamous or open relationship? What qualities are the most important to you?

When your date starts telling you stories about their life that demonstrate dishonesty and your body reacts, LISTEN! When they reveal stories of drug addiction, promiscuity or how their ex was a horrible person and all the hurtful things they did, LISTEN! Are you willing to accept that this person struggles with boundaries, self esteem and integrity? There is no need to judge, only Listen! Do you require an enlightened partner with the same religion, ethics, philosophy and interests as you?

What matters MOST?

At this point in your life what do you value more than any other thing in another person? Be honest. Many would answer trust, loyalty, friendship and care but it's different for everyone. When you get crystal clear about who you want to be it gets easier to know what qualities are most important to you.

What are the red flags that you could possibly give? What about your history or your current life may be a red flag to a potential partner? Once you can accept where you are in your life and the mistakes you have made, the possibility of selecting the right partner become possible.

Making a commitment to become the best partner is the key ingredient in selecting one. It's important to listen to the opinions of your family and friends, making sure they meet this person so they get more than your perspective of them. Having a supportive community is an integral part of the success of a relationship.

If you are currently in a relationship and wondering if you are with the right person you are not alone. Here are 3 questions to ask yourself:

1. Is there something about yourself you want to change?

2. What part of your life could use a confidence boost?

3. Are you enforcing healthy boundaries in all areas of your life?

Answering these questions will help you assess yourself and therefore make it easier to know if your current or future partner is right for you. LISTEN to the quiet voice inside you that knows what's important.

The quality of your relationships depend on the quality of your self awareness.
